On February 25, 2025, during the renowned MARLOG 14 international conference held in Alexandria, Egypt, PLIKA successfully hosted its first-ever innovation hackathon, bringing together talents, professionals, and industry leaders in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Titled the PLIKERS Innovation Hackathon, the event was a joint initiative organized in collaboration with the Port Training Institute and Escola Europea, featuring the integration of the Port Virtual Lab (PVL) platform to solve real-world logistics challenges.
With 24 participants from various backgrounds, the hackathon encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation around critical issues facing the logistics and transport sectors in the Mediterranean. Participants worked intensively to develop creative solutions using digital tools and realistic scenarios provided by the PVL platform.
The event was officially opened by Mr. Eduard Rodés, President of PLIKA, and Prof. Alaa Morsy, Vice President, who emphasized the importance of fostering innovation, cross-border collaboration, and Mediterranean identity among the new generation of logistics professionals.
“This hackathon reflects the core mission of PLIKA—to build a strong community that shares knowledge, develops skills, and drives innovation through collaboration,” said Mr. Rodés during the opening ceremony.
