On 18 June 2025, PLIKA hosted the second edition of its annual event, “Growing Together: A PLIKA Simulation Experience”, bringing together educators, logistics professionals, and students from across the Euro-Mediterranean region. The event took place in a hybrid format, both in person at Escola Europea in Barcelona and online, and was powered by the Port Virtual Lab (PVL).
This year's simulation focused on a realistic multimodal transport scenario. Participants worked in teams to make decisions, compare transport routes, and optimise logistics strategies in a competitive and international setting.
The session opened with welcoming remarks from Mr. Eduard Rodés, President of PLIKA, and Professor Alaa Morsy, Vice President, who reflected on the importance of international collaboration and the community’s shared mission. Ms. Ana Rumbeu, Vice President of PLIKA, offered a powerful message on the value of professional training, stating:
“It is through real experiences that we prepare young people to thrive and become key players in the logistics and port sectors.”
After a summary of recent milestones and activities by Ms. Valeria Munar, Community Builder, the simulation challenge PVL Flash was introduced by Mr. Orlando Reveco, Digital Product Lead, who guided participants through the dynamics of the exercise using the Port Virtual Lab platform.
The challenge tested each team’s ability to collaborate, strategise, and respond to complex real-time logistics decisions. It highlighted the value of immersive training in developing both technical competencies and essential soft skills.
In the closing segment, Ms. Taheya Elsherbeny, Mr. Abdessalam Obeidat, and Mr. Rabih Sabra, Treasurer of PLIKA, celebrated the participants and reflected on the broader impact of the initiative. As Mr. Rabih noted:
“With events like this, we are not just creating simulations, but shaping the next generation of thinkers, decision-makers, and leaders in logistics.”
Special recognition was given to Haneen Eid and Mario Rizk, who excelled in the simulation challenge through their outstanding performance, strategic thinking, and teamwork.
The 2025 edition of the PLIKA Simulation Experience demonstrated once again the importance of creating opportunities that foster innovation, cross-border collaboration, and professional growth in the logistics sector.
